Circuit board according to the number of layers to be divided into single panel, double panel, and multi-layer circuit board three major classification.

The first is a single panel. On the most basic PCB, the parts are concentrated on one side and the wires on the other.This type of PCB is called a single-sided circuit board because the conductor only appears on one side.Single panels are usually simple to make and cheap to build, but the disadvantage is that they cannot be used in too complex products.

A dual panel is an extension of a single panel, which is used when a single layer of wiring cannot meet the needs of electronic products.Both sides have copper-clad wires, and the wires between the two layers can be channeled through the holes to form the desired network connection.
Multilayer board refers to a printed board with three or more layers of conductive graphics and insulating materials in between laminated, and the conductive graphics are interconnected according to requirements.Multilayer circuit board is the electronic information technology to high speed, multi-function, large capacity, small volume, thin, lightweight direction of the product.

According to the characteristics of the circuit board is divided into soft board (FPC), hard board (PCB), soft and hard combined board (FPCB).

The circuit board is mainly composed of pads, through holes, mounting holes, wires, components, connectors, filling, electrical boundaries, etc. The main functions of each component are as follows:
Pad: A metal hole used to weld the pins of a component.
Through-hole: there are metal through-hole and non-metal through-hole, wherein the metal through-hole is used to connect the pins of components between each layer.
Mounting hole: for fixing the circuit board.
Conductor: Copper film used to connect the pins of the component to the electrical network.
Connector: A component used to connect circuit boards.
Filling: copper coating for ground wire network, which can effectively reduce impedance.
Electrical boundary: used to determine the size of the board. All components on the board must not exceed this boundary.

Circuit board includes many types of work layer, such as signal layer, protective layer, screen printing layer, internal layer, etc., the role of each layer is briefly introduced as follows:
⑴ Signal layer: mainly used to place components or wiring.Protel DXP usually contains 30 intermediate layers, namely Mid Layer1~Mid Layer30. The middle layer is used to arrange signal lines, while the top and bottom layer are used to place components or copper coating.
The protective layer: mainly used to ensure that the board does not need tinning place is not tinned, so as to ensure the reliability of the circuit board operation.Top Paste and Bottom Paste are the Top layer and Bottom layer welding resistance layer respectively;Top Solder and Bottom Solder are Solder paste protection layers and Bottom Solder paste protection layers respectively.
⑶ Screen printing layer: mainly used to print on the circuit board components of the serial number, production number, company name, etc.
The internal layer: mainly used as a signal wiring layer, Protel DXP contains a total of 16 internal layers.
(5) Other layers: There are mainly 4 types of layers.
Drill Guide: Mainly used for the location of drilling holes on printed circuit boards.
Keep-out Layer: Used mainly to draw the electrical border of a circuit board.
Drill Drawing: It is mainly used to set the shape of drilling holes.
Multi-layer: Mainly used to set up multi-layer layers.
